Kickstarter & TikTok+LunaTik Multi-Touch Watch Kits

I would like to introduce you guys to in my opinion one of the most innovative pieces of technology I’ve seen in a while.

A few couple weeks ago while browsing on Facebook, I was referred to a fundraising site called Kickstarter.com to contribute funds for a documentary project one of my FB friends was producing.

Kickstarter is a new way to fund creative ideas and ambitious endeavors.  Kickstarter is focused on creative ideas and ambitious endeavors.  It’s the perfect avenue for artists, filmmakers, musicians, designers, writers, illustrators, explorers, curators, performers, and others to bring their projects, events, and dreams to life.

The way it works is that you create an account, and start a project.  Every project has a funding goal (any dollar amount) and a time limit (from 1 – 90 days) set by the project creator.  When the deadline is reached, there are either of two results:

1. Funding Successful: If a project has met or surpassed its funding goal, all backers’ credit cards are instantly charged and funds go directly to the project creator.  Project creators are then responsible for completing the project and delivering rewards as promised.

2. Funding Unsuccessful: If a project has NOT met its funding goal, all pledges are canceled.

So now that I’ve introduced you to the site, you should check it out back some projects, and come up with a project that you’d like to bring to fruition.

Just looking through the site is so motivational, seeing all the creative people and ideas, and the positive energy and enthusiasm shared by creators and backers is just the ‘kickstart’ anyone would need to stop procrastinating and make one of their dreams a reality.

Ok let me get off that soap box, that’s a totally different business venture…..Business Consigliere coming soon…

So early in the posting I said I found an interesting piece of technology, and it just so happened I found it on the Kickstarter website.  A guy by the name of Scott Wilson who runs a design firm out of Chicago designed a kit to turn your iPod Nano into a watch.  Scott originally only set out to raise $15,000 to create a few pieces of the prototypes and hopefully then he would pitch the idea to Apple and they would pick up his design for distribution in all their stores and on their site.

Well little did we know this project would go on to be the highest grossing project on the site with a whopping $941,558 raised by 13,510 backers!  That’s almost a million dollars from an IDEA, a DREAM!

Dont forget to enter your email address, in the right hand column and hit the subscribe button so you don’t miss any of my updates.
