New Kid On The Block,….. but he’s ‘African’ *excerpt

When I was only 2 years old, my family journeyed to the US, so my father could pursue a higher education. As a child I was very light skinned, and had no accent of my native country when I began talking. Yet I still suffered the same tormenting I’m sure many of you were subjected to as immigrants in a foreign land.My mother, myself, & my father 1985When my family first came to the US 1985 we had literally nothing, no family to host us when we arrived, no money to help us survive. Just me, my father, my mother, a few clothes, and some phone numbers of some people that could be able to help us once we arrived.
